Beauty

8 Dec

My friend and I decided we would write poems on our phones and send them to each other as texts rather than sit down in a writing group or circle as life just takes over and we’re too busy to meet up.

We call our exchanges “pho-po” = phone poems.

Here is one she sent to me recently:

What is beauty?
Long thick hair?
Pretty eyes that are worth a stare?
A body that all want to wear?

No,
Beauty is the soul that thrives
The kind heart that survives
The sincere laughter and cries
The real love that doesn’t lie
From a mother to her child

Beauty doesn’t fade,
Forever acting as our shade
Protecting us from all which man made.

Beauty is within us all,
From those that rise
To those that fall
Because beauty is love
And we are all beautiful.
